I've never been able to put my finger on why I love storytelling in music so much, but this right here is it. I think why ATEEZ is so much of a game-changer for me is because of them and the writers ability to tell a story through concepts and lore, but the concepts have depth and meaning to them and I haven't seen that done as well as ATEEZ does in the K-Pop industry specifically... and despite some of the "picture perfect" aspects of the K-Pop industry, the storytelling of ATEEZ and the way they perform feels very authentic to them. Of course, I don't know them personally, but I still feel that level of authenticity they convey and wish to understand what aspects of life and culture they specifically feel that way about. That's why, for me, my only dream regarding ATEEZ is to talk with them and understand the depth of what they were talking about in the music and how it parallels their realities and the adversities and challenges they have faced. The other wishes are put aside, because at the end of the day, I love culture and I love learning about perspectives and experiences I don't know about. That's why The World EP/Album series means so much to me. That's why it meant a lot to me when Hongjoong opened up about Selfish Waltz a little bit because that was the beginning of telling the story behind the music. If you know me, you know I love Kendrick Lamar and grew up with his music in my most formative years, but applying this logic to everything I consume, it all makes so much sense now.
