Happiest birthday to ATEEZ’s black cat and talented performer –whom I haven't been able to congratulate on time 🥺–, our lovely Jung Wooyoung. A glowing light who keeps proving that determination and strong will can take you places. It's so easy to love you and be inspired by you. Here's to another year of finding happiness together.
Dear Wooyoung,
This was my first opportunity to "talk" to you, and I find it so precious that it's to celebrate your birthday—don't you agree?
I bet many messages on the secret board have said, "Thank you to ATEEZ and thank you to you, for being the light that guides me through the darkness, for motivating me to be a better person, for changing my life." Just like them, if you asked me to talk about what I'm thankful to you for, I could list a million things:
• Your genuine, sweet, hyper, and loud personality.
• Your wild yet controlled dance that I can’t take my eyes off.
• Your sweet, soothing voice that feels like a warm hug.
• Your interests—like video editing and working on your cooking license, which you’ve shared with ATINY.
• Your nerdy moments (you're a Slytherin, Wooyoung, don’t deny it!).
• Your urban, street fashion style. You make me want to slay big hoodies and baggy jeans, even though I'm short and people make me think it doesn't suit me.
• The way you care for your loved ones—Kyungmin truly has the best brother in the world, btw.
Even your loud laughter is special. It's so infectious that it brightens everyone’s day. But truly, there are no words that can fully express the light you bring into the darkness surrounding me. You're not just a candle in my life—you’re a dazzling cool disco ball that makes me want to dance.
To be honest, you didn’t catch my eye much the first time I watched ATEEZ content. But that changed when I saw your Artist of the Month performance covering “Bad” by Christopher. I could see how happy dancing makes you and how you share that happiness with others. Watching your journey, from a teenager introducing himself as a “s3xy performer” to now embodying that effortlessly and being a s3xy performer without even trying, has been inspiring.
I was heartbroken not to see you in Madrid for The Fellowship: Beginning of the End tour, but I was relieved it was only a minor issue and you recovered well. Your health is always the priority! ATINY and your members missed you deeply. San’s imitation of your "Bad" performance moves melted my heart. The love between you and your members is so genuine; your bond is the true treasure of ATEEZ. You’re the red string tying them together, always strengthening those connections.
Sometimes, I think you're on a personal mission to get close to every single member one at a time and convince them to get tattoos pledging loyalty to you—haha, just kidding. But honestly, it really feels like if any of the ATEEZ members were ever in trouble, you’d be the one to drop everything and run to help them. I sometimes wonder what ATEEZ would be like without you because you were so integral to making them more comfortable with each other and probably a big reason your bond is so strong now.
I really envy people like you who seem so at ease with who they are and unashamedly themselves. You bring out the best in those around you, even if they don’t realize it at first. You truly are a special person in so many ways.
Getting to know you better through "Fill in the Blank" only deepened my admiration for you. Your confidence, charisma, and passionate heart are incredible. Who would have guessed you once struggled with stage fright and cameras? Despite that, you’ve stayed dedicated to your motto: 'sin prosa sin pausa'.
I admire how you're unashamed of your learning process, inviting us to grow alongside you. Instead of comparing yourself to others, you focus on competing with yourself, which is such a refreshing mindset. You’re dedicated to your personal growth, and it’s inspiring to see you embrace both your strengths and areas for improvement without hesitation.
Although mischievous, you’re genuine and mature. You have a natural sense of when to speak up, how to tease without crossing the line, and when to take responsibility. It’s a delicate balance that you manage effortlessly. Your quick wit ensures you always stay one step ahead, and it's clear you enjoy a good challenge.
What makes you even more charming is your boldness. You literally have no filter—in the best way possible! You speak and act authentically, yet always with respect. That’s one of the most endearing things about you. You’re not afraid to openly declare your goals or say that you want to win prizes, something the other members often hesitate to do. Your honesty is refreshing, and I think even the rest of the group admires that confidence.
Your confidence doesn’t just define you—it inspires others. I love seeing how it rubs off on the more cautious or worrisome members, encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones. And, of course, your competitive spirit is the cherry on top. You truly are the main character, Wooyoung.
Watching you embrace your journey with such authenticity makes me want to do the same in my own life. You are my inspiration; someone I am incredibly proud of.
Lately, my own path has felt darker and more uncertain. But when I see your confidence, it becomes contagious. It makes me brave enough to tread the scary, treacherous, and unknown path, trusting it will lead somewhere meaningful, even if I’m afraid of walking on it, rather than taking other ways that, despite being brighter, feel less convincing in their destination. As you sing in "Mist", is like you're telling me it's alright, it's all just a moment, holding my hand tight so I won't wander for long in this path.
One of those roads may lead me to become a teacher. I’m unsure about this path—it’s foggy and confusing. But I can tell you’d be my favorite kind of student: the one who drives me crazy during class because you’d never stop talking and let the rest finish their work, yet outside of class, you’d be the most fun to hang out with. Students like you are the best to have in class—they make class fun for everyone and they always push the boundary just enough to never cross the line.
All in all, like your hyung Seonghwa once said, “It’s hard not to love Wooyoung.” He’s absolutely right. At first, you didn’t catch my eye, but now you have a very soft spot in my heart. You're so charming in your own way and never hold back when it comes to showing your love and affection. It's impossible not to love you—you simply don't give us a choice. (But I do think it’s a problem that you know everyone loves you—you always get away with everything!)
To Wooyoung, who thinks he cannot receive love, but universe keeps giving him back tenfold everywhere he goes.
You are always so, so loved because you have the biggest heart.
And you are never alone, and you will never be.
Happy birthday, Wooyoung. 🖤
