For #HONGJOONG #홍중 : Selfish Waltz means a lot to me, because I was doing the same thing at the same time in 2021. It all clicked for me when I was looking through photos to post on my Instagram and I came across a photo taken in 2021 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art... by him. I was in a toxic on and off relationship for the better part of 2 1/2 years and we were going in circles and circles. It was the definition of toxicity you couldn't resist, but it was actually insane the amount we would argue and the amount of frustration we would experience but we kept going back to each other. The moment it ended was when I realized who the f-ck I was. I gained so much confidence that I realized I could do anything I wanted without him. Honestly though, I had a superiority complex at the time that morphed into leveling up out of spite, and started doing impulsive things that may have effected me in a way that wasn't the best. Now reflecting on it years later as I'm at the tail end of that learning experience. I knew I was just as selfish as he was. I was also the problem and that's why it went on for that long. After learning that, I vowed to always look within myself first and make sure I have a level of empathy before pursuing or allowing any sort of connection to make sure I don't repeat those actions again. Anyways, I just wanted to share because I couldn't figure out why this song meant so much to me until now. The lyrics and the cinematic arrangement and production of 'Selfish Waltz' is exactly, EXACTLY, how the whole experience of that felt.
