Ateez Beats One Of BTS’ Most Impressive Chart Records Hugh McIntyre Senior Contributor Ateez is back with a new EP, and it’s become a quick win on select charts all around the world. The K-pop boy band’s latest project Golden Hour: Part.1 has started appearing on music rankings in a number of countries, and upon its arrival, the title helps the group make history in one of the most important and largest markets on the planet. Golden Hour: Part.1 debuts at No. 4 on the U.K. albums chart. The new drop marks Ateez’s third trip to the highest tier on the list of the most-consumed full-lengths and EPs in the country. That’s an impressive accumulation of wins, but what’s even more notable is how quickly the group has been able to earn all of those successes. According to the Official Charts Company, Ateez is now the first South Korean musical act to score three new top 10 titles on the albums ranking in just 12 months. The boy band racked up all of their placements inside the highest region on the tally–actually, all of their career appearances anywhere on the list–in just under a year. Before this week, the honor for the most new top 10 albums in the U.K. among South Korean stars in 12 months belonged to BTS. The septet collected a pair of new bestsellers inside the highest tier on the list between 2019 and 2020. First, Map of the Soul: Persona cracked the region in April 2019. Then, in March 2020, Map of the Soul: 7 accomplished the same feat. Both titles spent time at No. 1 in the U.K. BTS repeated that feat in 2020, as they kept doling out new albums in rapid succession. Less than a year after Map of the Soul: Persona hit the top spot in March 2020, their follow-up Be stalled at No. 2 in December, just before 2021 rolled around. Ateez first reached the top 10 on the U.K. albums chart the week of June 29 in 2023. Their previous EP The World EP.2: Outlaw brought them to the highest arena for the first time, as it climbed as high as No. 10. Their full-length The World EP.Fin: Will–which is a bit confusing, as its title includes the letters “EP”–narrowly missed out on becoming Ateez’s first champion in the U.K. The project climbed to No. 2 in December 2023. #ATEEZ #에이티즈 https://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2024/06/07/ateez-beats-one-of-bts-most-impressive-chart-records/
