It is also called (端午の節句)Tango no Sekku (Boys' Day Festival) or Shobu no Sekku (Iris Festival). In Japan, there is a custom of holding various events on Tango no Sekku to pray for the healthy growth of boys. Currently, it is held on May 5th of the Gregorian calendar (new calendar) and is a national holiday called "Children's Day." Although there are a few regions, it is held on the lunar calendar or on June 5th, a month later.
