Thoughts after tamaari day 1.
So after sleeping on it (more like crashing for 10 hours), I thought about coming here and sharing some thoughts about yesterday's concert before I get ready to go to day 2. This might get long because I'm verbose even if English is not my first language 😂
First of all, the atmosphere at tamaari was so fun in the morning. We didn't have a lot of trading going on but everybody was just so excited, the screams when pulling your bias photocard or managing an exchange 😂❤️ y'all are so cute! I was there alone and even made some friends! (and hoarded more HJ photocards)
I've been to tamaari probably upwards of 20 times but never for a kpop concert, which is an added bonus. Ateez were my first ❤️😳😛
As usual my ticket luck only granted us... Meh seats. But it was surprisingly better than expected! Because when the little trucks came around, I had them directly in front of me at eye level. None of them looked our way which... Well it stings a bit but I also know I'm spoiled from Japanese artist that will do wild stuff like hold your hand and such 😂
Anyway getting ahead of myself. Thoughts on the concert itself (yes finally getting there)
I've been to all ateez concerts that have been held in Japan, and aside the fact that it was finally tamaari, my favourite of the bigger arenas (sound is great and whatever your seat is, it has very good view - most of the other arenas are lacking in at least one or the other aspect), the concert itself was, simply put, better.
The setlist is energetic and exciting, with a steady build up (more like it starts very high but keeps going higher), then a breather with the unit songs, to then build up again with MATZ to go to the end.
The lack of vtr is appreciated; don't hate me for this but I always found them a bit annoying because while they were cool, they broke the intensity of the concert too much. I know they were a necessity, but they felt very jarring and messed up the pacing too much in my opinion. Now the pacing is more even, and the build up of excitement resonates more with the public (at least me).
The setlist itself... And the choreos... Well. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Absolutely amazing. Probably the best setlist to date, even if we lost some staples.
I knew it in advance because while I always try to not spoiler myself with fancams, I really couldn't resist. And even then, I thought i was prepared... I was not. No matter how many fancams you watch, it's not enough to prepare yourself for that.
And the response from the public was absolutely amazing. Of course it helps that fancams were not allowed. Say what you want, but I love that Japan still does not allow fancams, because they ruin the experience on both sides.
Everybody is too busy looking at their phones, trying to get good shots and such, and do not focus on the music and concert, and especially, the cheering is much more muted, which ruins the experience for both us and the boys, who get energy from our screams.
The boys' Japanese was surprisingly good. I know they've been studying hard but I also know they're extremely busy. As a non-native speaker, I know the challenges well and I was impressed.
You did a great job!!
All in all, it was an amazing experience, and I hope the boys enjoyed it too.
I lost my voice, now I'm going to try and mend it so I can wreck it again this afternoon 😂 who cares if I can't talk at work tomorrow!
Thank you for this amazing show, ATEEZ.
It was FUN in all the meanings of the word. I will relish this experience in my memory for a long time ❤️ see you later!
